Welcome to the 2015 Natick Innovation & Learning Summit and the Natick Wellness Summit!

This year we will host over 850 educators and hold over 130 workshop sessions that are facilitated by expert practitioners on the tools, resources and instructional practices that Natick educators have requested. All sessions are tagged by level and target audience to help you choose the best sessions for your interest and skill level.
This year is extra special because we are joining with the Natick Wellness Summit which has been designed to nurture the interdisciplinary roles of educators in the adoption of physical activity as a learning tool. Learn from leading neuroscientists, educators and psychologists the best practices and evidence based research to creatively incorporate physical activity into school policy, and teaching practices to enhance student’s ability to learn.

Attendees and speakers should plan for lunch during session 3-L1 or 3-L2. Lunch will be available from 11 AM - 1 PM.
Orff Schulwerk is an approach to music education that embodies active and creative music making. In this workshop participants will explore basic elements of the Orff approach and how they can be applied to almost any teaching setting. Singing, moving, improvising and creating music will all be part of the experience as attendees develop their understanding of Orff process teaching.
About the Instructor: Tom Rice has taught elementary music for the past 14 years, most recently as a general music, chorus and band teacher for the Natick Public Schools. In addition to teaching elementary students, Tom has been the recorder instructor for Orff teacher training courses at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Tarleton State University in Texas and at Bridgewater State University. Tom received his Orff certification at the University of Massachusetts and has presented many workshops on the Orff approach. Tom graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and received his Masters Degree in School Administration from Cambridge College.
